It’s because they’re international entertainers. People will pay loads to get a ticket to see them, and thousands of people can see them at once, so per game an enormous amount of money is taken in. So, over a year of playing, through which a footballer may have played a great number of games, they bring the club a fortune. This fortune is payed in wages to the footballers.
