An Arsenal spokesman has confirmed that a confrontation – of the handbags variety – took place between Samir Nasri and Emmanuel Frimpong in the Emirates tunnel.

The pair exchanged words at the final whistle of City’s 1-0 win over Arsenal, with Frimpong having previous for disparaging Nasri after his move out of Arsenal in the summer. “Pfffff come on Jack,” Frimpong wrote on twitter after team-mate Jack Wilshere wished the Frenchman well.
“Words were exchanged,” an Arsenal spokesman confirmed to The Daily Telegraph. “There was no punches thrown. There was a lot of noise. Samir was talking in French, Manu wasn’t. They didn’t touch. It was handbags. There were words and that happens after most games.”
Every touch made by Nasri during the tie was booed by the Emirates faithful, with his manager Roberto Mancini admitting that the hostile reception had upset the midfielder.
“I think Nasri can play better,” said Mancini. “It maybe affected him. It’s not easy for him. I played him to spare him a hostile reception in the Premier League. I think he has yet to find his best form and can improve a lot. When you arrive in a new team sometimes it takes time to settle in.”
Frimpong: dench – Nasri: bench.
