Question by John M: Do professional footballers get paid for playing international football?

I know that the average professional football gets paid an obscene amount of money – John Thierry is on �120,000 a week! But I was wondering, do these footballers get paid for playing for their country? Or are they expected to be patriotic and play for their country purely for the honour of playing for their country (somehow I doubt this). If they do get paid for playing international games are they all payed the same or do the higher profile players get more as it is in the Premier League?

no only the clubs pay for their wages but the do get bonuses if their country wins a tournment
